GlacioPOP
Fate of Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs)

Project
Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs) are chemical species that were deposited in the environment decades ago, but are still unaltered and influence living organisms until today. Recent high release rates of POPs have been measured in proglacial lake, and are attributed to storage within glacier ice.
During the interdisciplinary project GlacioPOP these processes were investigated and modeled in detail.
