Workshop on Geographic Information Retrieval, SIGIR 2006

The 3rd Workshop on Geographic Information Retrieval will be held at SIGIR 2006 on August 10th in Seattle. This workshop will address all aspects of Geographic Information Retrieval - that is the provision of methods to identify geographic scope, retrieve and relevance rank documents or other resources from both unstructured and partially structured collections on the basis of queries specifying both theme and geographic scope.
A total of 25 extended abstracts were received for review by the program committee. Of these, 16 have been accepted for the workshop. We are looking forward to a exciting and profitable workshop in Seattle.
